InReality is excited to announce that we have joined the International Broadcasting Convention's (IBC) Accelerator Project! Enabling trusted live video to be streamed to others. Securing and certifying photos and videos are already covered in our products, however streaming live video is one of the hardest media types to secure, as it requires periodic verification of video-parts, throughout the lifetime of the streaming session. This is exactly what InReality is tackling with it's new way of securing and signing this content.
Collaborating on this problem means tackling the challenge of both communicating, and trusting high quality media being streamed live. A frequent challenge for the news and media industries.
The C2PA industry coalition is developing new standards continuously for how to handle high quality media such as recorded video. While the specification now includes support for video streaming, production-ready implementations and tooling for signing and verifying live video streams are not yet available. Further still, due to the bandwidth needed to sign content, the locations you can stream AND simultaneously certify live video are not always available.
InReality is signing live video at device level, meaning that high quality, trusted content can be guaranteed no matter the network or location restrictions. This is a major step forward in content authenticity. We're excited to be delivering this step forwards!
This project is a collaboration between broadcasters, telecommunications providers, technology vendors, and research partners, with InReality delivering the signing and verification mechanism for live video streaming. We are working with a varied and brilliant team including AP, and IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) and many others.
Keep an eye out for the outcome of our collaboration!
